リンクスゴルフのコンディションはパークランドゴルフとは根本的に異なります。主な変動要因は風向きと風力、最近の降水量と排水状況、芝の固さです。固く乾燥したコースと湿って柔らかいコースでは、アプローチショットの止まり方、ティーショットのランの距離、チッピングの創造性が完全に異なります。
セフトン・コーストのコースは設計的に排水性が高く — 砂地の上に作られています。大雨の後でも、Royal BirkdaleとHillsideは通常、内陸コースより素早く回復します。Southport & AinsdaleとWest Lancashireは地形の関係で少し水が引くのに時間がかかる場合があります。Formbyの林間エリアは最も速く乾きます。
